Hmm… why does Akira look so pleased?
That’s right! He has two Shukan Soine bishies sharing his bed tonight! lol~ XD
The two characters on the mini dakimakura hugging cushions are based on designs of Shukan Soine CD (週刊添い寝) character boyfriends (Weekly Sleeping Boyfriend). Priced at less than half the price of a full-sized dakimakura (7,000 Yen, w/o tax) by Black Butterfly. They were only sold during Animate Girls Festival 2011 from 23~24 September 2011.

There were a total of 6 characters released by that time. I didn’t have the money to buy them all, so I only bought the two designs that I like best, not that I don’t like the rest. A new series of characters are coming up in November 2011. BlackButterfly is planning to make full-sized dakimakuras of the new characters too.
Back to the review, these two mini cushions were vacuum packed which is great for shipping. Top features the character from Vol.4 Sousuke. I like the character design but didn’t like the scenario as much. Bottom features back view of Vol. 6 Ryou’s cushion. Unlike the full-sized dakimakuras, these mini ones are only half-body. Although they’re also double-sided, the designs on the back are different.
Top shows back design of Sousuke’s cushion and bottom shows Ryou’s front design.
Released from their packaging, the boys ♥
got bigger ♥ *dirty thoughts* puffed up instantly!
The printing and colours are very crisp and clear.
Copyright BlackButterfly. Can you see the sheen on the fabric? Yep, it’s smooth and soft.
Back view of both cushions. I think they’re simple but quite lovely.
Close-up of the rabbit for Sousuke’s design.
Close-up of the sakura blossoms(?) for Ryou’s design.
Illustrates the thickness. It’s about 8cm.
Extreme close-up of the fabric. The stitching quality is pretty good too. However, they’re stitched shut so there’s no way to change the inner stuffing if you have to. There are no cleaning instructions. I think we’re not expected to get them dirty?
Another close up of the boys.
For the size, I honestly feel that they’re not that worth the price of 1,500 Yen each. They’re definitely good quality items but I don’t know what I can do with them. Maybe use them as a neck rest or as a wrist support for a mouse user? I don’t use a mouse so that won’t be practical for me. So they’re just for decorative purposes. Nice to have if you don’t want to commit to a full-sized hugging cushion due to various reasons. But if you have no issues with full-sized hugging cushions, save the money for the real thing instead.
OH I know! We can use them for our 1/6 figures lol~
But… from the looks of it, they’re a bit too big ^^;;
