About the character in the fictional otome girls visual novel game (Some spoilers ahead):

Hijikata Toshizo (土方歳三 ) Voiced by: Miki Shinichiro

Hijikata is the Vice-commander of the Shinsengumi and makes most of the Shinsengumi’s decisions. He is called oni-fukuchou (Demon Vice-commander) and is both feared and respected by his men. He is also often referred to as “Toshi” by Kondou. Hijikata is the one who brought Chizuru back to the Shinsengumi headquarters the night she witnessed a Rasetsu on the loose that attacked two men chasing her. He is responsible for her welfare, and even though he acts as if this were to his dismay, he cares for Chizuru’s safety, and is often shown protecting her during battles. He is based on the historical Hijikata Toshizo.

Hijikata drinks the Ochimizu and becomes a Rasetsu in order to defeat Chikage, fueled by rage after seeing fellow Shinsengumi warrior Genzaburo Inoue dead. Even though Inoue had been killed by Satchou warriors (Satsuma-Choushuu alliance), Hijikata takes it out on Chikage, starting a duel as Chikage goads him.

Hijikata Unboxed!

Front view with generally good looking details and paint-job for figures this size.

You can see that the eyes are not flat. Such cute hands :D

Side view. Love the big flop of fringe and ponytail.

Nice details.

Sexy back of a man! Check out the cute ears that are sticking out too lol~

His head is so big but feet so small, so standing without the base is impossible.

Shiny glossy paint for the sword sheath.

Ha! I will poke your eyes with my sword!

Sigh… can’t see what he is wearing underneath the hakama, since the detail wasn’t made.

Bottom of the voice base.

Random close up of his face. Well-painted and no smudges.

Cute :D

Down to the last small detail on the sword handle.

Recognise the top of his head? lol~ So pretty

Let’s hear how Hijikata sounds

Speech 1: 新撰組 副長 土方歳三 Shinsengumi Vice Commander, Hijikata Toshizou

Speech 2: おまえら覚悟は出来てるだろうな! You better be prepared for this! (I think)

Well, as expected from these voice mascots, the sound quality isn’t good. For Miki Shin fans who can’t afford his character voice clock from the series of Hakuouki voice alarm clocks, this will have to do ^^;;

The mischevious face of the chibi doesn’t suit the words he is saying but it is a nice change from the usual depiction of Hijikata in a frowning face. Reviews of the remaining characters coming up over the next few days!

  1. Yup! You’re right about the second line! I guess if you wanna get literal, he’s saying “You guys are ready, right?!” Most likely talking to his men ^^; (ahaha, sorry fro digging up such an old post…it’s just someone’s selling these figures for a reasonable price on ebay right now, and I wanted to hear the voices to make a decision *_*)

    1. I did…(well, two of them, Saitou and Kazama)…my will is weak ^^; I’m just going to consider it an early birthday present to myself! LoL

    2. Aww, thanks for asking :3 It’s coming right up! (April 9th!) :3 I’m planning my party around some Karaoke, so pampering shall happen! XD The few places we have that I know about are “Japanese” (“asian”?) style (as in, you rent a room) but are mostly all Korean run so that a huge chunk of the avaliable song list is lost on me ^^;; But they have a decent selection of songs to sing in English or Japanese (and relatively recent stuff…maybe out of date by only 3 years or so?) so my friends and I all enjoy ourselves! (It’s an added bonus that I’m the only one who can read/understand/speak Japanese at a decent level do that I can flub up a song and get away with it! LoL)

    3. @Ericha: That sounds awesome :D It’s just less than a week away! I’m sure you’ll have a fantastic time! :D
      Ah~ 3 years out of date isn’t too bad lol~ Karaoke places in most countries probably wouldn’t have the latest Japanese songs except Japan I guess ^^;; or maybe Taiwan. I can’t remember when it was the last time I went to one tho orz;;
